How Do I Pick the Perfect Wedding Venue?

Now that you’re engaged and you’re starting to plan your wedding, you’ll want to get started right away with finding your perfect wedding venue. It’s likely that most of the venues in your area book very quickly. Some can be secured up to 2 years in advance. If you have a specific date in mind, you’ll need to plan accordingly. If you’re unsure how to pick the perfect wedding venue, there are a number of things to take into consideration.

Picture Perfect

There will be a lot of photos taken during your big day. When you’re looking at a venue for the first time, you’ll want to consider how the photos are going to turn out. Is the lighting appropriate in the facility? What does the backdrop look like? You can even bring your potential photographer along to get their opinion.

Price

You may have found the venue of your dreams, but you can’t book the location if it’s well out of your price range. Set a budget before you start looking at locations. If you feel that you can go a bit higher, do so only if you find the venue of your dreams.

Be Quick About It

If you are planning far enough ahead, you can plan to reserve venue locations well before your event. Middle Ranch warns that waiting too long before choosing could result in losing your reservation. You also want to leave yourself enough time to choose your invitations, have them printed, address them and send them out. If you have a large guest list, this process can take quite a bit of time.

The Food

A good majority of wedding venues will provide their own food and catering. You’ll want to take a look at the menu options before you make your venue decision. Check to see if there are menu items that you’re happy with. If not, can they accommodate you by making something else? If you have a number of people that have food allergies or intolerances, will this venue be able to accommodate them? If a venue doesn’t provide food, you’ll have to figure out a separate catering company that can bring food in.

Location

It’s important that you pick a wedding venue that is going to be in a convenient spot for your guests. You may fall in love with a venue that is over an hour away from your hometown, but this can be an inconvenience for people. You could end up with less people attending your wedding. There is a lot of thought that goes into planning your wedding. When it comes to the venue, this is likely one of the most important details that you’ll be considering. After all, it’s the spot where one of the most important days of your life will be taking place.
